How you can help
Friends of Lockwood operates solely with time contributed by the teachers and unpaid volunteers, and funds contributed by private donors. Friends of Lockwood has no salaried employees, no payroll related expenses, and very little overhead expenses. Almost all funds received are used to cover the costs of the projects directly benefiting the students.

Although Friends of Lockwood is always interested in new ideas for projects for the kids, Friends of Lockwood needs financial donations, in-kind donations and volunteers for on-going projects which include:
- Annual Disneyland trip for 50 students. The total cost of the trip is approximately $11,000 which includes 2 chartered buses, Disneyland entry passes, lunches for the students, teachers and volunteers, and Disney dollars for students to purchase a souvenir.
- Special interest speakers and presentations for school assemblies and Lockwood Fun Days throughout the year. Special interest speakers may include professional or Olympic athletes, artists, performers, scientists, etc.
- Fun Days (such as Art Day, Career Day, Science Fair, etc.) held 4 to 5 times each year. We keep cost of these events at a minimum, but need volunteers and donations for supplies, food and drinks, and other take home gifts for the kids.
- College scholarship fund set up at Los Angeles Community College for a former student or a parent of a current student at Lockwood Elementary School.
